Driving on the Left

Hello New Zealand! We are here and on the move! We purchased a 1990 Mitsubishi Lancer from a charming mechanic up in Auckland and are just outside of Wellington at the moment (there is a map link on the side for reference).



Driving on the left is definately an adventure all in itself. The most difficult things so far are getting in the right side to drive and using the windshield wiper control instead of the turn signal. Lack of road signs and washout complicates things as well but don't worry Mom, we are doing just fine!


The drive down is beautiful. Everything is so green and covered in sheep and cows. It was definately scenic, especially since we keep missing cleverly hidden road signs.


We are making our way up to Castlepoint Station this afternoon with some side trips to various Lord of the Rings filming sights. They are on the way and we just can't resist. We will arrive at the sheep farm tonight and start docking some sheep tomorrow! (Steve will dock anyways, I will vaccinate).

Goodbye California

After a wonderful visit with my siblings and beautiful nieces and nephew, we are off! Steve and I will spend a fabulous Sunday at the airport, fly through the night and arrive in Auckland on (American) Monday. We will actually miss Monday completely and will arrive Tuesday morning in New Zealand. The date line is a funny thing.

Goodbye Colorado

Hello and welcome to my blog! I'm copying my lovely sister Jen because she is just so darn clever. I will post here to let everyone know what we are up to in New Zealand and since Steve is bringing his computer I can probably put some pictures up too!

We are leaving Colorado this Tuesday to visit with Mark and Jen and their families. We fly to New Zealand on the 24th and the journey will begin!
