Fox Glacier
The Fox Glacier is even bigger than the Franz Josef, so we decided to see it from a helicopter. Once it extended all the way to the Tasman Sea. It is much smaller now but still quite impressive. Below is the beginning of the glacier and surrounding valley.

These spires are about 60 feet high and impossible to navigate on foot.

Our ride… Fun fact: most helicopter pilots in New Zealand are ex-venison hunters. Here they usually shoot deer out of helicopters as they fly above... crazy!

We did all these glacier activities in a single day on Friday because of bad weather moving in. We sure were glaciered out!
