Castle Rock
On Saturday we decided to spend our last day before weaning exploring nearby Castle Rock. We avoided it on the first trip because of the wind. Today it was perfectly calm all around Castlepoint Station and in town but definitely not on Castle Rock! We can’t imagine what it is like up there on a windy day! Lily, the Crofoot’s Jack Russell, came along for the trip.
Below are some pictures from around Castle Rock. The first shows Castle Rock itself with the Crofoots land on the right and town beach/bay on the left...

and the bay on the way down...
Tomorrow (Sunday) we begin weaning, shipping, and dagging. Weaning and shipping are pretty much what they sound like. We will separate the lambs from their mothers, keep some females for next year, and everyone else is off to…
Dagging is a little more complicated. Next week a bunch of burly shearers will come in and shear the sheep population of Castlepoint. In preparation for this we need to cut off any 'undesirable' wool from the sheep. Most of this ‘undesirable’ wool is around the backside of the sheep. We will essentially be cutting off excess poo. We are sure it will be fabulous.
